PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy)

Types of PEG method

There are three main methods for PEG.

・Pull type

・Push type

・Introducer type

For pull type and push type, a catheter is indwelled in stomach via oral cavity and pharynx.

For introducer type, a catheter is indwelled in stomach directly.

<How to perform the pull type method regarding the pull type>

1. Insert the endoscope and put the air into stomach by the endoscope

2. Incise the skin and puncture the stomach with a needle under the endoscope

3. Insert the guide wire

4. Pull the guide wire to outside via oral cavity

5. Connect the guide wire to the catheter

6. Insert the catheter into stomach

7. Confirmed by the endoscope

8. Finished PEG method
